Preserving Agricultural Heritage while Architecting Future Resilience
The Challenge: Developing a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary master plan for a Regional Council, focused on preserving agricultural and open spaces while fostering future development. A key component of the plan involved managing the complex interests surrounding the region's major river corridor.
The Architectural Vision:
The plan ensures the council's long-term resilience through a holistic approach. A primary highlight is the strategic planning of the central river, a unique project that synchronized drainage and infrastructure requirements with economic, agricultural, and tourism goals. Central to this vision is the creation of a "Non-Motorized Zone"—a vehicle-free green corridor (excluding agricultural access) designed as an inviting, sustainable sanctuary for the general public.
Project Highlights:
Multi-Dimensional River Planning: Balancing hydraulic drainage solutions with the development of tourism and leisure hubs along the riverbanks.
The Non-Motorized Zone: A pioneering planning concept that provides a quiet, accessible green space for eco-tourism and outdoor activities.
Landscape & Agricultural Preservation: Protecting the region’s "green lungs" while empowering the council with the infrastructure needed for sustainable growth.
